Ipcube was one of the startups invited to present its disruptive innovation at the Forum 5i. It took place at the World Trade Center of Grenoble on the 28th et 29th of Septembre 2020. This year’s theme : “Innovation and carbon footprint, which synergies ?” In other words, how to innovate without leaving a footprint or how to reduce its footprint thanks to innovation ? Indeed, carbon footprint is at the heart of current thoughts on a global scale.
Everyone seems to mesure the issue’s extente but how is it possible to significantly reduce its footprint and perhaps compensate it ?
In this context, Nicolas Salah, founder and CEO, was invited to pitch in front of an international panel of investors to present its solution of in-situ pallet production. An innovation that can make you eliminate 80 to 160 tons of CO2 every 1500km, just on finished products shipments, thanks to the pallet’s lightweight. The second day was dedicated to all innovations’ exhibition and sessions of exchanges. There were discussions on synergies between carbon footprint and innovation and the presentation of Venture 5i partner companies’ strategies for the reduction of greenhouse gases.
This forum gives the opportunity to startups to meet investors likely to help them develop and reinvent tomorrow’s “decarboned” world. It is also a unique occasion to gathered big companies and startups and make them debate on their common problematics. These encounters are essential when it is known that innovations can have a hard time reaching their targets.
As Pedro Riera Sarda of InnoEnergy said : “You have to make the difference between breakthrough innovations and incremental innovations. I think regarding carbon footprint, you have to promote disruptive innovations, even if they face two obstacles : first the shortage of provided solutions, then the reluctance of large companies to appropriate it.”
Finaly, Venture 5i has rewarded the most audacious innovations. The “Coup de coeur du public” prize has been given to Lignoroc which sells a wood concrete. The second prize called “Jean-Michel Lamure” has awarded Ipcube. It was given by a panel of international investors. They have particularly appreciate the breakthrough vision of Ipcube innovation.
